It is almost impossible to write a review for this product for me: I didn’t buy it online but on a physical store in 2018, and many platforms do not recognize me as “trusted buyer”; Epson does not care about my feedback… then since I want to express my experience in the use of this product… here I am.

A first note: on the internet and in the support forums, for drivers and so on, I often find the connection of this model to another one, the WF-7710. I still do not know the difference between them, I assume they are very similar. So this review could interest also to WF-7710 buyers.

Pros

Design

The printer probably has to be big, because of the limited budget. And if you want an A3 scanner, a 42×30 base at least has to be guaranteed. But even if it is very bulky, the design isn’t bad. I like it, in some way.

Functions

I do not use many functions, honestly: printing on standard smooth paper (a3/a4), scanning (a3 to a6), printing on thick paper (250 g), printing on labels, print on both sides… aand stop. Not all the printers can do these simple tasks in one product, and besides this, this model has many other functions I do not use: fax, copies, printing by wifi, printing other sizes, etc.
There are also ready settings for printing with eco-saving ink, two-sided printing etc. Not very clear, but useful once you find it.

Brand

For every problem, I usually write on the official support forum / chat / ticket of the brand. And Epson has always been there. I had only two printers in my life, both were Epson, and they lasted. The paper has never jammed and at the moment I didn’t have any other problems except those listed below.

Cons

The slavery of the touch display

Maybe the display use is a “pro” for many users, considering the frustration given by the old models which gave many errors in the desktop interface. But, in this model, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE (I asked it to the official support team, it is not an assumption) to command the whole print from the desktop.
This is very uncomfortable since the printer continuously asks for confirmations by tapping on the display: about the size of the paper, confirmation to proceed, any time the light switches off, and so on. The printer is very big, and in many cases (not only offices, but even your own room) it is difficult to have the print close to your workstation. I HAD to position this next to the desk, otherwise I should have to get up continuously for two prints. I would have preferred a more hidden space for this little black elephant and give confirmations by the desktop commands.

Changing A3/A4 size

Another reason to have the printer closer to you, instead of the farther place. Phew! I hate it. There are no two drawers dedicated to two different paper sizes. The paper is contained in one single drawer, which with some guidelines can be fitted on the base of your needs: a6, a5, a3, a4 and many other formats. Pros, but cons at the same time: I often print A4 and A3, in the same quantity, and I have always to manually open and regulate the guides of the drawer, replacing the paper size I need.

Many sheets problems

A factory problem? Or a design issue? But every time I print, I have to insert the A3 sheets one by one. The printer very easily pulls more than one sheet at a time (instead of one of course) ruining multiple pages at a time with a wrong print. I hate it. It could happen with A4 also, but honestly, if you are very very precise with indications for the guides of the drawer, it barely happens. Anyway, the third reason to stay close to the printer, instead of having it in the other part of the room.

Competitors’ ink

A disadvantage common to many printers: for about one year I used the rechargeable competitors’ ink. At the end, my printer heads were damaged by their use, and I had to contact the support and replace the heads. The support was polite, but you don’t have a choice: to not ruin your machine you had to use official inks. Maybe I do not print very often and official heads are the only option? Could be.

Plastics

As written by others, the plastics of the printer seems weak, because of the noises they make, like they were very thin and un-solid. But this is only an appearance, up to this moment this had not any consequence.

AT THE END…

At the end, despite the many disavantages, I still find this printer all in all ok… Of course, if there was another one without these weakness, with a reasonable price, I would it definitively replace it.
