You have already seen here how to apply a material to an object, by simply applying a color or a texture. But how to reach other effects? Let’s see easily together
Matte effect

the easiest: create a new material. To make it more realistic you can lower the Roughness, for example 0.4, just to have a minimal effect of reflection/refraction.
Glossy effect
easy: create a material, and then set the Roughness near to zero, and if you want to amplify the glossy effect, increase the Specular.

Polished metal effect
easy again: create a new material, and then set the Roughness near to zero (the lowest, the more polished it is), set Metallic to 1, choose a base Color (in case of chrome I set a light grey) and set to 0.5 Specular.
