Here you can find how I usually set my workspace by the use of Area. This specific configuration works for me, but you can personalize it as you want by learning these commands.
Layout workspace only
During modeling, I mostly use just the layout workspace. I personalize it and activate some functions directly from it. You will see it. Also other guides and youtubers will tell you the same, you don’t need anything else in most cases and it will be easier!
Close an area
The viewports in Blender are called “areas”. If you want to close an area – for example, the animation one you see in the bottom part of the standard empy file – just do this:
- click on the View menu of the area you need to close
- Area -> Close Area

Divide in areas

I divide my main area with these operations:
- click on the View menu of the area you need to divide
- Area
- Horizontal split / Vertical split
- drag
And I repeat them until I have 3 areas:
- one 3d view for the modeling – with a solid view (the sphere symbol on the top-right)
- one for a top view – with a wireframe view
- one – in the bottom – for the management of the materials: the shader editor

from “layout” to all of the other
From this setting you will have all you need. Indeed by starting from this, you can jump to other features without switching labels. For example:
EDIT MODE: to obtain the modeling workspace, just hit the TAB command and you will go into edit mode. TAB again to come back. You will see that it is different thanks to the different tools on the left, a different sub-menu and the object has its nodes visible.

MANAGE TEXTURES: sometimes I switch one of the areas into the UV editor workspace.

that’s it!
If you have suggestions, I would be happy to know!
