Here we are! Let’s start together on adding materials on Blender. We will talk later about transparency, bump, displacement and other settings, let’s start with very easy steps: matt materials with a texture which repeats itself.
1. Adding a material
Go into the Shading Workspace, since it is the best one to check-control materials.
Select the object you need, and from the right panel, select the symbol of the sphere (Material property). Click on Add material:

2. add a texture to your material
Rename the material as you need. Remember that they are saved and you can select them from the list of materials

On Base color select the color, or in case for example of a parquet, an image to reproduce

3. adjust the scale of the texture
To adjust the SCALE of a texture, add into the Node viewport, two elements: Mapping and texture coordinate. Link them to the main properties and by modifying position and scale you can adapt your own texture.

Please note that differently from other 3d models, SCALE affects the repetition in an inverse mode: the bigger the value, the smaller the texture.
Luckily also, the texture is continuous and does not interrupt itself in correspondence of the subdivision of the mesh.

Consider also that, luckily, the texture is continuous and does not interrupt itself in correspondence with the subdivision of the mesh. I was becoming crazy on interrupting all of the subdivisions of the faces, but it is not necessary!

finished!
It seems more complicated than it is, but in few steps, you created your own personalized material. Let’s continue together, we will see other settings and things very useful.
