Present simple tense


Used for:

  1. Actions, expressions, facts that are always true: for example in manuals, guides, scientific articles… situations that exist now and will go on indefinitely.
    The clouds are made of water vapor 
  2. facts, situations that are generally true.
    Sheila is a strong woman
    I live in L.A.
  3. The same but with the use of adverbs which underlines the common presence of this action (like habits, routines): always, forever, frequently, often, sometimes, seldom, rarely, never, etc.
    I always eat chocolate
  4. To explain a summary of events (sequences of a book or film etc.)
    Chapter 1 talks about Harry’s life and only in the second the adventure begins.
