Even if you are not a nerd obsessed with hotkeys, you know, they are very useful. Let’s check together the main ones and what do I prefer among them:
MAIN ONES
A
select everything, yes, without CTRL.
X
delete. Yes cancel and other more obvious won’t work. Just x. Sometimes Blender is too much original.
W
activate the tool of selection / arrow.
SIMILAR TO OTHERS (oh yeah!)
R
rotate
S
scale
J
join
E
extrude
+ CTRL or + SHIFT
plus selection, to remove or to add to selection
LITTLE BIT DIFFERENT
G
move an object in a freeway
M
move an object… but among collections (which are sort of layers)
F
fill. If you click some edges and then F, you fill a surface
ONE OR THE OTHER
X, Y, Z
after you click move, extrude, rotate (and others), to make it along that axis
1, 2, 3
to switch among vertex, edge and face! in select modes
VERY VERY VERY USEFUL!
TAB
switch from object to edit mode. VERY useful
CTRL + R
create subdivisions into meshes (alias: loop cut)
SHIFT + A
add a new mesh
CTRL + 0
make the object as the active camera
PERSONALIZED COMMANDS
Of course, you can change the combination you prefer or create a new one if does not exist. These my favourites:
- FRAME SELECTED: I chose a comfortable key for this function, which I use really a lot, to zoom on what I am working on.
HOW TO
How to personalize a command?
- Click EDIT
- PREFERENCES
- KEYMAP
- search for the value you are interested in, and write your preferred command.
- modify the command: Keyboard or other tool? Which key?
- That’s it!

And you, do you love other hotkeys?
